Friday 24 February, New South Head Road, Rose Bay, Sydney

Often, as a trend reaches tipping point and slips out of the elitists’ hands to the masses, those that first made a product ‘hip’ will stop using it.

So it’s not surprising to see that as banana prices have dropped, and the masses are allowed to buy them again, notifications of peels are being sent to us in less desirable locales such as Bondi youth hostels, Cabramatta or Redfern Station.

When bananas were at a premium price, peels weren’t as prolific. Those that respected the fruit would look after it. Now of course, its a disposable.

So it still surprises us at BWHQ when we see a littered banana in the posh Sydney suburb of Rose Bay, the same bay where some of us live.

The big question is, did this come from the garbage bin or did someone see the garbage and litter it, ie the broken window theory.

Note the multiple coffee cups, the expensive chocolate wrappers. Nouveau Riche can so often be just as disrespectful as the poor.
